Reference Point #1 – Star Size
Measure one embroidered star on the blue Union field, from point to point. 3′×5′ flags typically have stars measuring approximately 1 ⅞″
(minor variation is normal depending on the manufacturer)

Reference Point #2 – Folded Triangle Size
The 3′×5′ flag is the most common flag flown on homes and businesses. When properly folded into a triangle, it will have approximate measurements of:

• Angled sides: ~9 ¾″
• Bottom side: ~13 ½″

Folded dimensions can vary by up to 1″ depending on how tightly or loosely the flag was folded.

The 5′×9.5′ flag is the official burial and interment flag presented at a veteran’s funeral. When folded into a triangle, it will have approximate measurements of:

• Angled sides: ~16 ½″
• Bottom side: ~23″
